Fridays, 10:30-11:45am, Hillsborough Yoga and Healing Arts
Have you wanted to try yoga but you’ve been intimidated by the Sanskrit names of the poses, the unfamiliar sequences, or thought you weren’t flexible enough? Or, would you like to move more slowly, with more attention to each pose? In this class we’ll demystify and explore the most common yoga poses, learn proper alignment, move with great care and concern for our own unique bodies, and emphasize the importance of finding what works in your body and taking care of yourself. In a totally non-competitive and informal classroom, there will be time for lots of questions and help with developing your own personal practice to do at home if you wish. I will occasionally talk a bit about yoga philosophy in a non-dogmatic way, drawing from the ancient texts of the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali and The Bhagavad Gita, and exploring how these ideas (e.g., contentment, non-harming, being of service, and mindfulness) can be relevant and incorporated into our lives every day. And, of course, we’ll have fun!
